Supernatural alternatives without a VR headset

Last checked: 6 October 2026. Written by MYR5, the maker of one of the apps below.

If you love Supernatural and still have a Quest, the simplest move is Supernatural Health, the new company run by its founders and coaches, or FitXR. If you want to stop needing a headset, Nike Training Club is the strongest free library, Zombies, Run! is the best story-driven option, and Active Arcade and MYR5 use your phone camera to follow your movement.

What happened to Supernatural

In January 2026 Meta said Supernatural would no longer receive new content or feature updates.[4] Meta's own Supernatural page now says the current Supernatural experience is winding down on December 3, 2026, and that its coaches and founders have started a new company, Supernatural Health, with its own service independent from Meta.[1] UploadVR reports the new service returns to $20 a month or $200 a year, launches on Quest this fall, and uses fresh accounts: existing accounts and subscriptions do not transfer automatically.[2] Founding members can lock in $180 for the first year.[3]

How we chose

Each option is something a Supernatural user might actually switch to: a guided, motivating workout you can do at home. We included apps that beat ours on most measures. Every competitor price and feature links to a source we read on the date above. Anything we could not confirm is marked as not stated.

The alternatives

Supernatural Health (keeps the headset)

Best for: people who want Supernatural itself, with the same coaches. Price: $20/month or $200/year.[2] Platform: Meta Quest.[2] Con: you still need a headset, and your old account does not carry over automatically.[2]

FitXR (keeps the headset)

Best for: class variety in VR. Boxing, Dance, HIIT, Sculpt and Combat studios, over 1,000 on-demand classes and live multiplayer classes.[5] Price: $12.99/month or $107.99/year, with a 7-day free trial.[5] Platform: Meta Quest.[5] Con: still a headset subscription.

Nike Training Club (no headset)

Best for: a big free library led by professional trainers. 200+ free workouts of 5 to 50 minutes, led by Nike Master Trainers, with and without equipment, plus 4 to 6 week plans.[6] Price: free.[6] Platform: iOS, Android, Apple Watch.[6] Con: it is follow-along video; nothing watches you or counts your reps.

Zombies, Run! (no headset)

Best for: people motivated by story. A running game with 500+ missions that play between songs from your own playlists; it supports jogging, walking, treadmill and wheelchair workouts.[7] Price: free download with Season 1; $6.99/month or $49.99/year for everything.[7] Con: it is built around running and walking, not a full-body indoor session.

Active Arcade (no headset)

Best for: motion games using a phone camera. It uses the camera on an iOS or Android device for body motion detection, needs no extra equipment, sensors or wearables, and can connect to a TV.[8] Price: not stated on Nex's product page.[8] Con: it is a set of games rather than a structured workout plan.

MYR5 (our app, no headset)

Best for: a free, playful workout coach in the phone browser. A customizable 3D alien coach; the phone camera counts reps and estimates holds, and camera and pose processing stay on the phone. Price: free. Platform: any modern phone browser, installable from there. Ages 13 and up. Con: it is a small independent app with no professional trainers, a handful of movements instead of hundreds of classes, and counts that are estimates.

FAQ

When does Supernatural shut down?

Meta says the current Supernatural experience is winding down on December 3, 2026. Its coaches and founders started a new company, Supernatural Health, which plans its own Supernatural service on Quest.[1]

Will my Supernatural account carry over?

UploadVR reported in June 2026 that existing accounts and subscriptions will not automatically transfer to the new service, which uses fresh accounts.[2]

Is there a Supernatural alternative that does not need a headset?

Yes. Active Arcade and MYR5 use a phone camera to follow your movement, and Nike Training Club and Zombies, Run! are phone apps that need no camera tracking at all. None of them is immersive VR.
